Basketball: '27 TOP of the Board:

Miami had a record setting year under first year head coach Jai Lucas. The Canes had the best turnaround season in school history, returning to the NCAA National Tournament with a 26-9 record. However, coach Lucas and his staff again rebuilt the roster for the upcoming 2026-27 season. The staff will focus on high school prospects to achieve a sustainable roster moving forward. Look for Miami to sign 2-3 recruits in their 2027 recruiting class. The staff will go to the transfer portal to address transfer needs.

Here are the key recruiting targets currently at the top of Miami’s board.

Cayden Daughtry

Evaluation: 247Sports - 7/19/26 - Adam Finkelstein

"Daughtry is the most skilled player in high school basketball. He has an incredible mastery of the ball at such a young age...Beyond just his prowess with the ball, he also has terrific natural instincts and feel for the game...The concerns are almost solely physical. He’s undersized with a naturally slighter frame and not atypical length...The bottom line is that Daughtry was the best grassroots player in the country this year and will very likely be one of college basketball’s very best freshmen a year from now."
Summary: Elite national prospect. Recently at Peach Jam, Cayden averaged 32.3 points on 58.6 percent shooting. It will be a national battle to land Cayden.

"Black is one the highest floor point guard prospects we’ve seen in several years. He has a uniquely wide overlap of assets with positional size, innate competitiveness, poise, confidence, consistently developing skill, and an instinctive feel for the game. He can not only blend scoring and passing, but tailor them to his environment. In the EYBL, he operated as an offensive alpha and posted 22 points, 5+ assists, and 4 rebounds per game on 48/35/82 shooting. Conversely, he ran the show as a pure point guard for USA Basketball at the FIBA U17 World Cup, averaging 12 points and 8 assists, against just 1 turnover... Defensively, his competitiveness, strong base, balance, quick hands, and instincts are all assets. He has quick hands, reads passing lanes well, and good positional length with a nearly 6-foot-6 wingspan.Put it all together and the bottom line is that Black has arguably the most reliable and well-rounded game in high school basketball."

Summary: Elite in-state prospect. The top floor general in the 2027 class. Another major national battle.

Justin Wise*

"Wise is a skilled and heady guard who bases his game mostly around his jumper. Nearly two-thirds of his total shots came from behind the arc in the recent EYBL season, connecting on 36% of nearly 7 attempts per game. He’s capable of making tough threes, including in transition and off the dribble, has a complimenting mid-range pull-up game, and is a good cutter off the ball..."

"...EYBL's Defensive Player of the Year, where he averaged 6 blocks a game and looked like the premier rim protector in all of high school basketball. He plays with a passion and intensity."

Summary:

Elite local and national prospect. A prolific top shot-blocker whether on one-on-one situations, in transition or coming from the weak side. Recently at Pearl Jam, Peach Jam, he averaged 11.0 points, 9.4 rebounds and 6.0 blocks in seven games Uvwo shot 56.9 percent from the floor.

“Williams is a high level shooter from inside and outside the arc, but his mid-range game is elite. When he gets to the 15-foot range it is as good as a layup. He also has a uncanny gift of drawing fouls on his shot. Williams will make as many hard, contested jump shots as anybody in the high school game. He also checks all of the boxes including passing, handling, rebounding, and defending multiple positions. He also has the physical tools and positional size."

 Summary: Reclassified to the 2027 | He is a potential one-and-done prospect. At the Peach Jam, Williams averaged 23.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks.

Jordan Page

Evaluation: 247Sports - Adam Finkelstein - 7/19/26

"Page is a physically gifted southpaw wing with a versatile two-way floor game. At 6-foot-5 with a nearly 6-foot-11 wingspan, he’s long with sturdy shoulders and big hands, albeit a longer neck. He’s a well-rounded athlete who moves and covers the court with real force, and can finish hard above the rim in transition. He’s a physical straight-line driver, able to elevate into mid-range pull-ups, not as far away from knocking down open threes as his most recent numbers indicate (22% 3pt and 72% FT in 3SSB play), a willing passer and ball-mover around the perimeter (2.9 assists vs. 2.2 turnovers), and excellent cutter off the ball... The bottom line is that Page has a versatile two-way game. He’s physically gifted, has a steady motor, and can impact the game in a variety of ways. He’s also relatively young for his grade, and won’t turn 18 until May of his senior year, so there is lots of time for him to keep adding to his offensive game."
Summary: At Adidas 3SSB Palmetto Road Championships, averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
