5-Star A’mir Sears reclassifies, sets date… UPDATE!

Five-star athlete A’mir Sears has reclassified from the 2028 to the 2027 recruiting class on Tuesday. He will announce his college destination on Friday, July 31st. at 5:00 p.m. ET - CBS Sports College Football Youtube Channel..

Among his 47 scholarship offers, A’mir has narrowed his final list of schools to Auburn, Florida, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Syracuse and Texas A&M.

UPDATE: Sear's updated 2027 247Sports Composite rating at 99, position ranking at #1 athlete and overall ranking at #11 in the nation.

Before his reclassification, A’mir was rated 99, ranked the #1 athlete and #2 overall prospect in the 2028 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is expected to keep his five-star rating when his updated composite is announced.

At 6’1”/178, A’mir caught 49 passes for 942 yards and 11 TD on offense while totaling 61 tackles, 3 INT and 11 PBU on defense in 2025. He has stated a desire to be a two-way player at the next level.

Andrew Ivins, 247Sports director of scouting, posted the following evaluation of A’mir on June 6, 2025.

"Best kid in the park type of athlete that plays with an edge. Could be deployed in multiple roles, but warrants a look at cornerback. Swallows up assignments with his length and wiry strength. Quick to react in coverage and isn’t afraid to take risks. Strikes as an open-field tackler and gets guys on the ground. Frame, bounce and instincts suggest impact potential on Saturdays."

Miami is A’mir’s projected landing spot going into his announcement on Friday.
