August 17, 2026 -

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal made an appearance on The Joe Rose Show on Monday and confirm transfer wide receiver Cam Vaughn has been dismissed from the team.

No specifics were given other than repeated failures to buy into the culture and multiple instances of not meeting Miami standards.

Vaughn came to Miami in January from West Virginia as a transfer. During his two prior college seasons, Vaughn caught 83 passes for 1,344 yards and nine touchdowns. He was considered the No. 160 overall player and No. 36 wide receiver in the transfer portal this cycle. In 2025, Vaughn caught 35 passes for 541 yards and four touchdowns.

During Miami's spring and fall camps, Vaughn was competing for playing time with Joshua Moore, Daylyn Upshaw, Vandrevius Jacobs and true freshman Somourian Wingo for the WR3 role.

Miami is still very deep and talented in the wide receiver room with a three-deep rotation.

The Canes open their 2026 season on the road at Stanford on Friday, September 4.

GO CANES!
