theRECAP Report: Canes Roll, 52-23

October 24, 2026 - #1 Miami took care of business on Saturday, demolishing Pitt, 52-23 at Hard Rock Stadium in front of Canes Roll Pitt, 52-23 in front of 65,991 fans.
And it wasn’t that close.
By halftime, the Canes led 31-7. By the end of the third quarter, the score was 45-14. Miami then cleared their bench. This victory felt especially pleasing after some unkind remarks by a certain gentleman from the Steel City.
Miami (7-0, 5-0 ACC) rolled up 506 yards of offense on the vaulted Pitt defense, including 119 yards on the ground. Prior to Saturday, the Panthers had the #1 run defense in the country, giving up an average of only 57.3 yards per game on the ground and only 16 points per game.
That #1 ranking is no more.
Wide receiver Malachi Toney set a school record with 194 yards receiving on 16 receptions. Quarterback Darian Mensah bombed the daylights out of the Pitt secondary, going 31 of 37 for 387 yards and four touchdowns. And it would have been over 400 yards passing and five touchdowns if it wasn’t for a questionable call that nullified a Toney 59 yard touchdown from Mensah.
Miami goes on the road next Saturday to Chapel Hill to face North Carolina.
In the meantime, can you hear the crickets in Pittsburgh?
GO CANES!
