The off-season is in the books. It’s now time to prepare for Fall Camp and the 2026 season. Head coach Mario Cristobal and offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson have assembled a young and talented group quarterback for 2026 and the future.

The only question is … which young quarterback will develop quickest and seize the backup job in 2026 and lead the Canes back to developing high school talent at the position.

Our series continues today focusing on the potential competition for starting positions and backup roles at each position. Our projections of each depth chart are just that, not the actual depth charts. Every Cane must earn their position and playing time on the depth chart.

Darian Mensah is our starting quarterback, projected to be one of the best in the country. Miami, however, is thin on college game experience behind Mensah. For 2026, who will step up and win the backup job from among a young group of talented underclassmen?
