The 2025 season is over. The portal season is in the books with the #4 portal class. Coach Cristobal is now focused on Spring Practice.
Competition will always be a cornerstone of Miami football under Mario Cristobal. Greentree is famous as a place where “iron sharpens iron.”
This series will focus on the competition at each position group going into spring practice.

Our next edition of “IRON” breaks down our WIDE RECEIVER room in 2026.
Talent Collection:
Miami goes into spring with TEN WIDE RECEIVERS in competition for a significant role in 2026.
In alphabetical order…
Cooper Barkate:
Cooper comes to Miami via the transfer portal from Duke where he was one of the nation’s most productive receivers with 1,106 yards and 7 touchdowns. Can he repeat his 2025 performance?
Tyran Evans:
A true freshman with a high upside. A big target and future red zone threat. How quickly can he adjust to college life and the new level of play?
Vandrevius Jacobs:
An experienced receiver transfer from South Carolina, Van is a true vertical threat. He’s expected to compete for a starting position or at least an active rotation spot in 2026
Joshua Moore:
Josh returns after a promising freshman campaign in 2025 when he flashed his potential. Another big target, is he ready to breakout?
Milan Parris:
A true freshman, Milan is yet another large receiver in Miamo’s room. Will he surprise and push for playing time in the second half of 2026?
Vance Spafford:
Vance is a gifted and versatile true freshman with elite speed. He can play multiple receiver positions and could also impact as a punt and kick returner as well. How fast can he adjust to college life and the speed of the game?
Malachi Toney:
Words are not enough to explain Mali’s talent and impact on a game? Extremely quick and explosive playmaker already. Is he ready to take it to the next level in 2026?
Daylyn Upshaw:
Another young and talented receiver. Flashed his talent as a true freshman in 2025. Can Daylyn fight for a larger role in 2026?
Cam Vaughn:
Cam comes to Miami from West Virginia as an experienced transfer receiver. (32 recep/540 yds / 4TD). Can he push for a starting role for the Canes?
Somourian Wingo:
A true freshman, Somourian brings a ton of talent to Greentree. How fast can he adjust to college life and the speed of the game? A potential impact receiver down the road.
BOTTOM LINE:
Despite a major turnover, Miami has the potential to field one of the best wide receiver rooms in the country in 2026.
