Jai Lucas signs five-year contract extension

Miami head basketball coach Jai Lucas signed a five-year contract extension.

Coach Lucas led the Hurricanes to an overall record of 26-9 in his first year as head coach, including a return to the NCAA tournament for the first time since the Final Four run in the 2022-23 season. It was the greatest turnaround in NCAA Division I history, coming from 7-24 the previous season.

Coach Lucas came to Miami from Duke where he was an assistant coach. Prior to Durham, the Texas native held assistant coaching positions at Kentucky and Texas.
