Miami’s home opener against FAMU resulted in a dominant 77-7 win for our Canes. This week Miami (2-0, 1-0 ACC) will be on the road Friday night in Winston-Salem to take on Wake Forest (2-0, 0-0 ACC) in the Canes’ second conference game of the season. The Demon Deacons will be a good test for the #5 Hurricanes.

Here are our three KEYS to the Game against the Rattlers.

CONTAIN QB GIO LOPEZ:

The Demon Deacons’ offense revolves around QB Gio Lopez. He a left-handed dual-threat quarterback that can take over a game with his accurate arm or his legs. Miami must make him uncomfortable, especially when he rolls left to pass. Load the left side for containment.

WIN the Battle in the Trenches:

Wake has a strong front seven on defense. Miami’s young but talented offensive line must control that front. Miami defensive front must contain and pressure Wake. Turn the Demon Deacons into a one-dimension offense.

TAKE ADVANTAGE of Wake’s secondary:

Wake defense secondary is their weak link. Mensah and company should exploit their opportunities for explosive plays.

BOTTOM LINE:

Wake Forest will be a good test for Miami. If Miami can contain and pressure Lopez while Mensah takes advantage of Wake’s secondary, Miami should once again take care of business.

GO CANES!
