Miami is close to finalizing their 2027 recruiting class. It’s been reported the Canes want to take a smaller recruiting class this cycle, somewhere around 20-24 recruits.

Currently, Miami’s class has 19 verbal commitments, ranked #2 in the nation and #1 in the ACC.

Who will fill out the Canes’ class?

Here are the 10 MOST WANTED targets remaining on Miami’s big board.

EDG DJ Jacobs*

Miami would love to pair DJ Jacobs with Jaiden Bryant on the defensive line. We saw what Bain and Mesidor did to opposing offenses. However, DJ is committed to Ohio State. It’s much harder and more expensive to flip a committed elite prospect. Time (fall) will tell.

WR Quentin Hale*

Miami is still looking for a talented big body receiver. Quentin Hale fits the bill, but is committed to USC.

WR Eli Woodard

Miami is also looking for another blue chip receiver to pair with Nick Lennear. Eli has visited Coral Gables on multiple occasions. It appeared the Canes had the lead after is last visit. But Cal has made a major oush, including landing Eli’s high school quarterback. His recruitment has become a classic national battle.

EDG Marquis Evans

Marquis is another blue chip edge Miami is untested in signing. However, Marquis may be lower on Miami’s board. It may come down to Miami’s success with targets higher on the board.

TE Anthony Cartwright

Miami wants a second athletic tight end to pair with Demarcus Deroche. However, recent reports have Anthony trending away from Coral Gables. Time will tell.

S Ta'Shawn Poole

Miami entered the spring a little thin at safety. However, with the recent commitment of Andre Hyppolite, that need MAY have been satisfied. Ta’Shawn is still schedule for an official visit, so anything can happen.

IOL Gus Corsair*

Miami really wanted IOL Gus Corsair and were in it until he committed to Oregon.. The Canes see Gus as a potential future starter at offensive. However, Miami would need to “flip’ him, a tougher task.

LB Jalaythan Mayfield

Miami came into this recruiting cycle needing to re-load at linebacker. The Canes landed two commitments from four-star linebackers Aroson Randle Jr. and Noah Glover. If Miami wants a third linebacker, Jalaythan could be their man. However, numbers could get in the way.

RB Myson Johnson-Cook*

Myson Johnson-Cook sat at the top of Miami’s board early in the cycle, but he decided to commit to Auburn. There have been reports Myson has left the door cracked to other schools. The BIG back would be a perfect pairing with committed Ty Keys. Mario is relentless.

LB Kaden Henderson

After years of heavy recruitment by coaches Corey Hetherman and Mario Cristobal, Miami suddenly decided to move on. That just doesn’t fit Mario’s relentless profile. Will the Canes play the long game and circle back this fall?

BOTTOM LINE:

We don’t know how many scholarships Miami has left for the 2027 class. It will be interesting to watch Mario and his high powered recruiting staff down the home stretch this summer and fall.

GO CANES!
