Rounding it out….

Mario Cristobal and his staff are red hot on the recruiting trail after flipping 5-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant from LSU on Wednesday. The Canes’ 2027 recruiting class now has 18 verbal commitments and is ranked #3 in the nation, featuring four five-stars among its ranks.

Earlier last month, Miami confirmed their class is going to be significantly smaller than previous classes. The 2026 class finished with 31 new recruits. The 2027 class is projected to land between 20-22 recruits. As it stands, Miami has 2-4 additional spots to add in the 2027 class.

Remaining Needs:

Miami still has roster needs at linebacker, safety, wide receiver and tight end. This begs the question of who’s still at the top of Miami’s boards at those positions?

Targets: (in no particular order)

LB Kaden Henderson

Miami still has a need at linebacker. The Canes are aiming at the #1 linebacker prospect in the nation, Kaden Henderson. Miami is in a battle with LSU, Texas A&M and Ohio State. Wouldn’t Lane Kiffin love it if he could steal Kaden away?

WR Eli Woodard

Miami has a big need at wide receiver this cycle. The Canes have already landed the commitment of local 5-star Nick Lennear. The Canes need at least one additional blue chip wide receiver and are focused on 4-star Eli Woodard. Miami’s battling Cal and UCLA, but are favored to bring li across the nation to join the Canes.

S Andre Hyppolite

Mario has always said he wants to keep the best Florida talent at home. Local 4-star safety Andre Hyppolite (North Miami Beach) is the primary remaining target at this position.

TE Anthony Cartwright

Miami has often been called “TE U.” Miami has the need and is focused on 4-star Anthony Cartwright the beast from Detroit.

WR Quentin Hale

Like Woodard, Miami has a need to stack blue chip wide receivers. The Canes are looking for a bid body receiver. Look no farther than USC commit Quentin Hale.

EDG DJ Jacobs

Last, not not least, is 5-star edge rusher DJ Jacobs, the nation’s #1 edge rusher to pair with the #2 edge rusher, Miami commit Jaiden Bryant. Sound like a good replacements fro Rueben Bain and Akeem Mesidor? Miami would definitely make room.

BOTTOM LINE:

Miami has a number of excellent prospects but must navigate the numbers down the stretch.
