September 26, 2026 - It was predictable. Miami (4-0, 2-0 ACC) just had to much talent, rolling Central Michigan, 52-3 on Saturday night. And the Canes got the opportunity to rest a number of injured players.

Miami amassed 572 total yards offense and 31 first downs on the day. Quarterback Darian Mensah threw for 338 yards and three touchdowns in little more than a half against Central Michigan. In four games this season, Mensah has thrown for 14 touchdowns with only 12 incomplete passes. Let that sink in for a minute. He has completed 88.7% of his passes this season.

Sophomore Malachi Toney led all receivers with 6 receptions for 120 yards and 1 touchdown. Running back Chris Wheatley-Humphrey led Miami’s rushing attack with 104 yards (9.5 ypr) and one touchdown.

On defense, linebacker Cam Pruitt posted a team-leading 6 tackles, including two solos. Defensive back Omar Thorton contributed five tackles, 2 tackles for loss and one sack. Sophomore defensive back Ryan Mack chipped in 4 tackles and 1 sack. Edge Marquise Lightfoot led the defensive line with four tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks.

For the day, Miami’s defense held the Chippewas to only 158 yards of offense (21 rushing & 137 passing.) Central Michigan turned the ball over three times (2 fumbles, 1 interception.)

BOTTOM LINE:

Miami took care of business, set a few more records and got a little more heathy in the process.

Next Saturday night, the Canes go on the road for another test… Clemson in.Death Valley. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage on ABC-TV and WQAM -560.
