October 29, 2026 - #1 Miami (7-0, 5-0 ACC) travels to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on North Carolina (4-3, 2-2 ACC) on Saturday at Kenan Stadium.

The purpose of this report is to breakdown UNC’s strengths and weaknesses on both side of the ball.

OFFENSE:

UNC has had issues with consistency and depth on offense. The Tar Heel quarterback, Billy Edwards, has done a reasonable job of game management but lacks the ability to stretch the field vertically. The receiver room has played only 3 wide receivers in four games this season, although there is dangerous talent in Jordan Shipp. Talented tight end Jelani Thurman is a real threat with 33 receptions and 4 TDs. The offensive line has been very inconsistent and will be tested by Miami’s talented front seven.

DEFENSE:

UNC’s success this season has come because of a solid defense, especially the defensive line. However, that line is thin right now with a number of defensive linemen banged up for this game. Quality depth here could be a problem for the Heels. Still, the defense has put Carolina in a position to win some games it has lost, like Syracuse and Clemson.. Miami will need to strike fast and wear them down over the course of the game.

BOTTOM LINE:

UNC has exceeded pre-season expectations but lacks roster quality and depth to play with a team like Miami. The Canes should handle business on Saturday.

GO CANES!
