Miami landed the verbal commitment of 5-star athlete A’mir Sears (Miami, FL - Columbus) to their 2027 recruiting class on Friday afternoon. He is Miami’s fifth 5-star commitment in this cycle. A’mir re-classified from the 2028 class to the 2027 class this week.
At 6’-1”/ 178, A’mir is rated 99, ranked the #1 athlete and the #11 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class (after reclassifying), according to the 247Sports Composite.
A’mir is the 21st verbal commitment to Miami’s 2027 recruiting class, now ranked #3 in the country and #1 in the ACC, according to the 247Sport Composite.. Among his 47 scholarship offers, A’mir chose Miami over such schools as LSU, Texas A&M, Oregon, Florida, Auburn, and Michigan.
A’mire brings elite athleticism, length, versatility, twitch, and proven production at the high schools level. In 2025, A’mir caught 49 passes for 942 yards and 11 TD on offense while totaling 61 tackles, 3 interceptions and 11 pass breakups on defense. He has indicated he wants to play both ways in college at defensive back and wide receiver. Miami has given him the green light to do so.
