Miami landed the verbal commitment of defensive back Sherrod Gourdine (Hollywood, FL - McArthur) on Tuesday, the first day of spring practice.

At 5’-10”/177, Sherrod is rated 88, ranked the #36 athlete and the #529 overall prospect in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Sherrod chose Miami over Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Georgia Tech from among his 31 scholarship offers.

Sherrod projects as a nickel corner at the next level.

Andrew Ivins, 247Sports director of scouting, gave this assessment of Miami’s latest addition.

"He's a flat-out football player. Tons of natural coverage talent with his elite feet and route recognition. The type of defender that's constantly putting himself in position to make plays. What also really stands out is the contact courage. He packs a punch and can get home on the blitz, which he did as a sophomore and again as a junior.”

Miami’s 2027 recruiting class now stands at seven verbal commitments, now ranked #13 in the country and #3 in the ACC with an average ranking of 89.50.
