2027 Early Targets: Cornerbacks

With the changes in the NCAA recruiting calendar and roster limit, it’s not too early to begin 2027 prospect evaluations. Today, we take our first swing at potential CORNERBACK targets.

OVERVIEW:

The Canes are projected to go into 2025 with seven CORNERBACKS (Charles Brantley, Damari Brown, Chris Ewald Jr., OJ Frederique Jr., Xavier Lucas, Ethan O'Connor, Keionte Scott) with Brantley and Scott exhausting their eligibility after the 2025 season. In 2026, four freshmen corners (Camdin Portis, Jaelen Waters, Brody Jennings, Jontavius Wyman) will arrive in Coral Gables.

Miami prefers to have 8–10 cornerbacks on the roster. By the 2027 recruiting cycle, we expect Miami will be carrying nine corners on the roster. Of course, transfers could alter that number. Assuming no transfers occur, we expect the Canes to sign one or two corners in the 2027 recruiting class.

At this time, Miami has verbally offered scholarships to twenty-four (24) cornerbacks in the 2027 recruiting class.
