#5 MIAMI defeats Bethune-Cookman, 45-3

Miami defeated an out-manned Bethune-Cookman, 45-3, on Saturday night at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Miami finished with 543 total offense yards and 31 first downs and held the wildcats to only 191 total yards.
Canes’ starting quarterback Carson Beck completed his first 15 passes for a school-record, breaking Vinny Testaverde's mark against Oklahoma in September of 1986. Beck played a little over a half of the game, completing 22-24 passes for 267 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. Backup quarterback Emory Williams completing 8 of 12 passes for 77 yards passes for 77 yards, and no interceptions.
The Canes’ leading receiver Malachi Toney caught 6 passes for 80 yards.. Senior wide receiver CJ Daniels added 5 receptions for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns.
On the ground, Miami running back Mark Fletcher rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Redshirt freshman running back Gerald Pringle ran for 36 yards and a touchdown. Transfer running back CharMar “Marty” Brown added 35 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Canes out rushed the Wildcats, 199 to 92 yards.
On defense, Miami shutdown Bethune-Cookman’s running attack, holding the Wildcats to only 92 yards on the ground. Linebacker Kellen Wiley Jr. led Miami with 5 tackles (3 solo).
BOTTOM LINE:
Miami took care of business on Saturday night at the “Rock.” The Canes played many players in this game, giving reserve players game experience while minimizing wear and tear and injuries to the front-line players.
The Canes (2-0) next host South Florida Bulls (2-0) on Saturday, September 13th at Hard Rock Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.ET.
