In 2025-26, Miami basketball turned in the most dramatic turnaround in college basketball history. Even so, we may really see Miami head coach Jai Lucas’ biggest impact in the next year.

With only three players returning this season, Coach Lucas and his staff once again assembled a talented team for the 2026-27 season. And this team may be even better than last season after landing former Michigan transfer guard L.J. Cason this week. Miami’s staff is not afraid to go toe-to-toe with the best in college basketball. Coach Lucas knows how to build a competitive roster.

And Lucas is not afraid to compete with the best on the hardwood.

On Wednesday, Miami announced the addition of Texas to the schedule this upcoming season. Miami’s 2026-27 non-conference schedule will feature such schools as Florida, TCU, Michigan/Creighton, Alabama, and Texas. Five of those teams are NCAA Tournament teams who averaged 26.6 wins last season.. That’s some of the best in the nation. Lucas is not afraid of taking on anyone. And most of those games will be on the road.
