It may be the off-season, but you would never know it by all the great news in Coral Gables this summer. Let’s take a look at what’s happening around the U.

  • The best news…Canes’ guard Marcus Allen has been declared cancer-free! Marcus was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma seven months ago. GOD is good!

  • Miami catcher Alonzo Alvarez has been named a Baseball America Freshman All-American. Alonzo started 45 of Miami’s 51 games, batting .341 with a .551 slugging percentage and .990 OPS. The freshman totaled 57 hits, including 13 doubles, two triples and six home runs, while driving in 32 runs and scoring 40 times. Not bad for a freshman! Congratulations, Alonzo!

  • Ticketmaster becomes Official Ticketing Partner of Miami Athletics. Ticketmaster becomes the official ticketing partner for Miami’s four ticketed sports; football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball. Hurricanes fans will be able to buy, sell, transfer and access tickets all in one place at Ticketmaster.com, MiamiHurricanes.com or through the Miami Hurricanes app. The official launch of the new platform is scheduled for Monday, July 6th.

  • Hurricanes Place Forty on All-ACC Academic Teams. The ACC announced this week that 40 Miami student-athletes were named to the 2026 All-ACC Academic Teams. The Canes track and field had 14 student-athletes named, while the rowing team had 16 garnering honors, the women’s golf team placed four student-athletes on the All-ACC Academic Team and the women’s tennis had three and the men’s tennis team had three honored on the ALL-ACC Academic team. Congratulations to all our Canes
