Miami landed the verbal commitment from 5-star wide receiver Nick Lennear (Opa Locka, FL - Miami Carol City) on Thursday evening.

Nick gave his pledge to head coach Mario Cristobal and wide receiver coach Kevin Beard at the 305 Day recruiting event at Cristobal’s home.

At 5’-11.5”/165, Nick is rated 99, ranked the #3 wide receiver and the #12 overall prospect in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Nick chose Miami over such schools as FSU, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, LSU, Oregon, Texas and USC from among his 21 scholarship offers.

As a freshman and sophomore, Nick caught 62 passes for 1,159 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Andrew Ivins, 247Sports director of scouting published the following evaluation in December.

-Classic Miami-Dade playmaker that always seems to be delivering in key moments.

-Clears out coverage with his acceleration and has proven to be a true three-level separator that can snap off defensive backs and consistently lose his mark.

-Tracks the football at an extremely high level while racing deeper third and has a knack for making difficult grabs with his ball skills.

-Ignites after the catch and can make the first wave of tacklers miss with his agility and creativity as he looks for cutbacks.

-Embraces the task of blocking and will fight for teammates out on the perimeter.

-On pace to emerge as an offensive weapon for a College Football Playoff contender, but has also turned heads as a defensive back throughout prep career.

-Should be viewed as a true big-play threat with some inside-outside versatility that can flip the field with his deep speed and savvy route running.

Miami’s 2027 recruiting class now stands at five verbal commitments, now ranked #12 in the country and #4 in the ACC with an average ranking of 90.20.

Welcome to the U, Nick Lennear! Welcome to the family!

GO CANES!
