Miami just didn’t have it on Friday night, losing to #10 Virginia, 82-64 in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament.
By halftime, the Cavaliers were up by 15 points. Miami shot 38.6 percent (22 of 57) from the floor and just 4 of 20 (20.0 percent) from 3-point range. Virginia, meanwhile, shot 52.5 percent (31 of 59) from the field.
Miami took an early 17-15 lead, but Virginia answered with an 18-4 run to take a 33-21 lead and never looked back. UVA extended the lead to as many as 26 points. The Canes, at one point, missed eight consecutive shots. Miami was simply stone-cold from the floor all night.
Miami (25-8) must now await its NCAA Tournament seeding with the Selection Show scheduled on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. ET (CBS). The Canes’ next game will be on either March 19th or 20th.
GO CANES!
