October 22, 2026 - Shortly after receiving a verbal commitment on Wednesday evening, Miami lost a commitment from defensive tackle DeMarco Jenkins (Pearland, TX.) Jenkins flipper his commitment to SMU. From all reports, DeMarco wants to be closer to home. We wish DeMarco the best in his journey.

Miami currently has two defensive tackle commitments, Ezekiel Ayangbile and Josh Johnson. However, Miami wants to add another massive prospect due to the projected loss of Ahmad Moten and possibly Justin Scott after this season.

What are the Canes’ possible options?

From all reports and sources, there are four options Miami is considering.

Jamar Thompson (West Boca, Fla)

Jamar is a Georgia Tech commit who committed to the Yellow Jackets early this summer. At the time, Miami was considered a potential landing spot for Jamar. Miami never gave up and maintained communications. The Canes are interested in stacking a big body interior defensive lineman in this cycle. Jamar checks this box at 6”-an up close It’s been reported that Miami will have coaches on the sideline this Friday to do a follow-up fall evaluation. However, it not certain if Miami wants to reenter the race for Jamar’s signature.

David Folorunsho (Chicago, Ill. - St. Patrick)

At 6’-3”/280, David is another elite defensive tackle Miami could circle back on before the early signing period in December. Miami had been in the thick of David’s recruitment until he made his commitment to Notre Dame.

Kasi Currie (Chatsworth, CA - Sierra Canyon)

Kasi is an elite defensive tackle prospect and Texas commit. Miami has coveted him for a long time. However, he would cost dearly considering his NIL value and he appears to be solid in his commitment to the Long Horns.

Transfer Portal:

The fourth option is the Transfer Portal if Miami prefers college experience and quality. However, this route would be very expensive.

BOTTOM LINE:

With less than 60 days until the early signing period, Miami must quickly decide which option(s) to pursue. CaneReports will monitor the situation and report any new developments.

GO CANES!
