August 19, 2026 - As the 2026 football season quickly approaches, position battles are still underway. The competition is fierce on Greentree.
At this time, CaneReports will attempt to break down the projected depth chart at each position group. Remember, the coaching staff can still make final changes to these depth charts.
Today, we project the DEFENSIVE LINE group.
EDGE RUSHERS:
Damon Wilson II
Miami landed one of the SEC’s top pass rusher this off-season. Will he step up to fill those big shoes?
Marquise Lightfoot
Marquise logged important snaps down the stretch in the playoffs. He’s ready to take a leadership role in 2026.
Armondo Blount
Armondo is very versatile and ready to assume a bigger role in 2026. He can play on the outside and inside on this line.
Herbert Scroggins III
Booker Pickett Jr.
Asharri Charles
DeAnthony Lafayette
TACKLES:
Ahmad Moten Sr.
Ahmad will lead the interior of this line. He’s experienced and had a breakout year in 2025. He’s ready.
Justin Scott
Justin broke into the rotation in 2025 and has the potential to be a dominant force in the middle.
Jarquez Carter
Miami landed Jarquez, a high potential transfer. He’s proven in the spring and fall camps that he’s ready to assume a large role in 2026.
Keona Davis
Keona transferred to Miami from Nebraska this off-season. He has the potential to break out in 2026 and play important snaps on the interior..
Keshawn Stancil
Logan Nagle
Isaac Chukwurah
Mykah Newton
Tyson Bacon
Fred Sainteus
BOTTOM LINE:
Miami must replace two first round defensive ends but the cupboard is far from bare. Miami’s 2026 defensive line is talented, deep and versatile, one of the best in the ACC and the nation. The Canes have an elite seven-man rotation (Moten, Wilson, Scott, Lightfoot, Blount, Carter, Davis) who could play for any college team.
Can this group match the production of the 2025 group?
Time will tell.
GO CANES!
