The off-season is in the books. It’s now time to prepare for Fall Camp and the 2026 season. Head Coach Mario Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal have assembled a roster ready to compete for championships. Miami has done excellent job of talent retention and acquisition this off-season. The only question is who will step up to lead our Canes this season.
This series continues to focus on the potential competition for starting positions and backup roles at each position. Our projections of each depth chart are just that, not the actual depth charts. Every Cane must earn their position on the depth chart. No freebies
Let’s get started.
OFFENSIVE LEFT GUARD:
Samson Okunlola
Junior | #67 | 6’-6” / 330
Samson came out of high school as a five-star prospect but has battled injuries during his time at Miami. He brings experience despite the nagging injuries, he still split snaps at guard in 2025. It appears he is entering fall practice healthy. Will the talented “Pancake Okunlola” finally break out in 2026?
Johnathan Cline
RS Junior | #56 | 6’-4” / 315
Johnathan is a transfer this year from UCF. He brings college game experience at the Power Four level and will compete for playing time.
and minimally add depth.
Joel Ervin
Freshman | #70 | 6’-6” / 330
The staff is really excited about the potential of four-star freshman Joel Ervin. He brings excellent size, athleticism and a nasty attitude. Projects as a potential multi-year starter with NFL upside given how he moves and smashes with his mass.
BOTTOM LINE:
Miami doesn’t have a lot of game experience but has very good talent with high potential. Can Okunlola stay healthy and reach his potential? Does Miami have enough depth?
GO CANES!
