August 22, 2026 - As the 2026 football season quickly approaches, position battles are still underway. The competition is fierce on Greentree.

At this time, CaneReports will attempt to break down the projected depth chart at each position group. Remember, the coaching staff can still make final changes to these depth charts.

Today, we project the OFFENSIVE TACKLE group.

Left Tackle: Samson “Pancake” Okunlola

Samson has won the starting job during fall camp. He brings two years of rotation experience and development. Is 2026 the year he breaks out?

Back Up Left Tackle: Jackson Cantwell

Coach Alex X threw Jackson into the fire upon his arrival on campus in January. After the spring and fall camps, he determined Jackson needs further development before exposing him to college game. Make no mistake, Jackson will be a future star on Miami’s line.

Right Tackle: Matthew McCoy: Matt moved over to right tackle in the spring from left guard. He has proven to be a good run blocker and brings important starting experience to this new look line.

Back Up Right Tackle: Jaden Wilkerson

Jaden is the perfect example of development at tackle. He is ready to assume a major rotational role in 2026. Will this be his break out year?

Reserves: Demetrius Campbell, Jamal Meriweather, Juan Minaya, Joel Ervin

BOTTOM LINE:

Miami has a ton of raw talent and potential, but lacks major game experience. It may take awhile until this unit forms the cohesion to be a true strength. Look for unit to start well as a road grading force before fully developing their pass protection techniques.

GO CANES!
