July 21, 2026 -
The off-season is in the books. It’s now time to prepare for Fall Camp and the 2026 season. Head Coach Mario Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal have assembled a roster ready to compete for championships. Miami has done excellent job of talent retention and acquisition this off-season.
The only question is who will step up to lead our Canes this season.
Our series continues to focus on the potential competition for starting positions and backup roles at each position. Our projections of each depth chart are just that, not the actual depth charts. Every Cane must earn their position on the depth chart. No freebies
Let’s go!
OFFENSIVE RIGHT TACKLE:
Matthew McCoy
Senior | #78 | 6’-6” / 325
Matthew was the starting left guard in 2025. That means he has solid game experience all the way to the national championship game. In 2026, the coaching staff has moved him to right tackle, replacing Francis Mauigoa. Coach Mirabal is betting Matthew is ready.
Jamal Meriweather
RS - Junior | #71 | 6’-7” / 305
Jamal comes to Miami as a transfer from Georgia. He brings SEC game experience and position versatility at either guard or tackle. We expect him to compete for a starting role at both positions.
Ben Congdon
Freshman | #58 | 6’-8” / 325
Ben is coming to Miami as a former 4-star prospect from Ohio. He’s a freshman with outstanding upside. He’s already a physically imposing offensive prospect who can play either tackle or guard down the line. He will need to adjust to the college game but has a very bright future in Coral Gables.
BOTTOM LINE:
Miami has an incredibly talented, big, young and massive collection of offensive linemen that may take some time early in the season to gel.
GO CANES!
