Expectations…too HIGH?

September 19, 2026 - Miami went on the road to Wake Forest on Friday night and came away with a 33-20 win. However, when you woke up on Saturday morning, you may have thought the sky was falling. After all, Miami won their first two game by a combined score of 122-13. “They should pound the Demon Deacons!”

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal warned us earlier in the week that his team would be tested by the Demon Deacons. He was right about that one. But all good teams face tests. The great teams pass those tests.

On Saturday morning, we are reading and hearing about poor play calling in the second half and injuries to starters. But the truth is the Wake coaching staff made good adjustments at halftime and got their team back into the game. Miami answered, displaying good resilience and went home with a 13-point road victory.

Miami was tested and still came away victorious. Were we unbeatable? Probably not.

Were our expectations too high? Probably. But our team survived to stay undefeated.

As a fan base, we need to keep the faith with our heads up and celebrate another Hurricane victory.
