Our Miami Hurricanes defeated the Bethune-Cookman, 27-24, on Sunday evening at Hard Rock Stadium.

As is our custom, we award “Games Balls” to the Canes who made significant contributions to victory. This week we present six game balls in victory.

QB Carson Beck

When you break a 39-year school record, you get a game ball. Beck completed his first 15 passes against Bethune-Cookman to break Vinnie Testaverde’s consecutive completion record. Beck went on to complete 22 of 24 passes for 2 touchdowns in five drives. With a 35-3 lead, Beck turned the ball over to Emory Williams.

EDG Rueben Bain

Bain once again wreaked havoc of an opposing quarterback when he forced a fumble when sacking the BCU quarterback.

WR CJ Daniels

Daniels has definitely staked a claim to WR1 when he came up big with a contested catch for a touchdown to get the Canes off to a fast start again this week. He also caught another touchdown pass to extend Miami lead.

RB Mark Fletcher

Fletcher ran extremely hard for the Canes, punishing BCU defense and scoring two touchdowns. On the night, Mark led Miami in rushing with 85 yards on 11 carries (7.73 yds per carry). In two games, he has run for 151 yards (5.8 yds per carry and two touchdowns. He has a chance to be Miami’s next 1,000 yard rusher.

WR Malachi Toney

When was the last time a Miami true freshman wide receiver struck fear in opponent defensive coordinators hearts? Malachi once again caught six passes for 80 yards and forced a coordinator to track his presence on the field.

Safety Bryce Fitzgerald

Another true freshman impacted this game. Fitzgerald intercepted a pass in the end zone to stop a Wildcat scoring drive. Not bad for a true freshman.

BOTTOM LINE:

A combination of veterans and young players directly impacted the outcome (score) of Miami’s victory over Bethune-Cookman.

GO CANES!
