Notre Dame is furious about being left out of the playoffs. Pete Bevacqua, their athletic director blasted the ACC on Monday for lack of support.

Irish fans are justifiably up in arms.

Heads will roll under the very powerful Irish political machine. It’s possible Notre Dame will not extend their scheduling agreement with the ACC after their contract ends in 2030.

BUT, are the fighting Irish taking it out on the right people?

Perhaps they should take their frustration out on the NCAA, specifically the CFP, ESPN and the SEC. They really chose to keep Alabama in the playoffs despite three losses, including a beat down by Georgia last weekend.

Was the inclusion of the Crimson Tide a political move by ESPN to influence the committee in support of their media partner, the Southeast Conference (SEC)?

Had Alabama not been selected, both Notre Dame and Miami would have made the playoffs. Both the Canes and Irish are better teams than Alabama (and Oklahoma).

The SEC got what they wanted, five teams in the playoffs.

BOTTOM LINE:

The Good ‘Ole Boys win again.

GO CANES!
