Miami head coach Mario Cristobal promoted nickel coach Terry Jefferson to cornerbacks coach on Wednesday.

Coach Jefferson, a Dade County native who played his high school football at Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington before a college career at Florida A&M, brings experience and proven results.

Coach Jefferson spent two seasons at Jacksonville State. In 2024, Jacksonville State finished with the top-ranked defense in Conference-USA, finishing second in interceptions in the conference. He worked with the safeties, including first-team selections Jeremiah Harris (2023) and Fred Perry (2024), as well as Zechariah Poyser, who joined Miami after two seasons at Jacksonville State.

Coach Jefferson worked closely with safeties coach Zack Etheridge and safeties coach Will Harris in 2025. He played a significant role in the development of Keionte Scott, who emerged as one of the nation's top defensive backs last season.

Coach Jefferson brings solid coaching experience with Power Four cornerbacks, developing them and delivering results on the field.

Congratulations, coach Jefferson!

GO CANES!
