Malachi Toney to undergo surgery…

Nov. 4, 2026 -

Miami star wide receiver, Malachi Toney availability for Saturday’s game with Notre Dame is now uncertain due to a high ankle sprain sustained in practice on Wednesday.

The injury is not expected to be season ending. The hope is Malachi can return for the post season if Miami advances into the College Football Playoffs.

Should Malachi not be able to play on Saturday, it would mean transfer Cooper Barkate (372 yds/4TDs) would take on a greater role in Miami’s air attack. The Canes could move Daylyn Upshaw (263 yds/2TDs ) to the slot position. If Upshaw moves to slot, Miami could turn to Vandrevius Jacobs (152 yds/ 1TD) on the outside, with true freshmen Vance Spafford in reserve.

All of Cane nation wishes malachi a swift and complete recovery.

GO CANES!
