No. 2-seed Miami beat Troy, 10-5, on Friday night at the NCAA Regional Tournament in Gainesville.
Miami (39-18) broke the tie game open in the bottom of eighth with five runs as a Max Galvin double ignited the Canes' late explosion. The Canes sent nine batters to the plate that inning stroking four hits and posting five runs.
Also contributing at the plate were Derek Williams and Vance Sheahan with home runs. Brandon DeGoti blasted a two run double and Alonzo Alvarez and Dylan Dubovik each drove in a run.
The game was delayed prior to first pitch for more than 4 hours because of rain and lightning before Miami starter Rob Evans took the mound. Evans went five innings, giving up three runs on seven hits, while striking out four and walking two.
Miami’s Jack Durso relieved Evans and pitched two scoreless innings before Lyndon Glidewell allowed a game-tying two-run homer in the top of the eighth. Glidewell (4-0) got the final six outs of the game for the win.
The Canes will play #1-seed Florida Oon Saturdy at 8:00 p.m. ET. TV coverage will be announced.
GO CANES!
