No Signature, No Eligibility!

The NCAA launched the College Sports Commission (CSC) about eight months ago to police name, image and likeness payments.

The CSC immediately required all Power Four member schools to sign a participation agreement. The agreement requires all 68 Power Four schools to waive their right to file lawsuits against the enforcement agency and gives it wide latitude to sanction programs for violating rules that outline how players can be paid after the House settlement last year.

Eight months later, the BIG-12 conference is the only conference with all of its member school signed.

REALLY!?!

So, who are the schools that HAVE SIGNED the agreement? Better yet, who are the schools that HAVE NOT signed the agreement?

It sounds like a “we want rules as long as they are not for me” story line.

Where does Miami stand with the agreement?

IF the NCAA and its member schools want an effective commission, then let’s start putting pressure on those schools who don’t want to live by the rules.

Perhaps the CSC begins by imposing sanctions/penalties on non-compliant schools.

Let’s start with financial penalties for non-compliance. We suggest starting with a $100,000 per month fine for schools not part of the agreement ,starting July 1st.

Then if a school hasn’t signed the agreement by the end of this year, they will be ineligible for any post-season play. That includes the College Football playoffs and bowl participation.

BOTTOM LINE:

It’s time to show some teeth, not just worthless words.
