With the retirement of Dan Radakovich, Miami is looking for a new athletic director.

Some reports indicator the Miami administration wants a non-traditional athletic director with heavy revenue building experience. Among the names being bandied about in the press is Michael Yormark, twin brother of Big-12 commissioner Bret Yormark.

While that connection doesn’t automatically mean the Canes are headed to the Big-12, it could mean Miami might be thinking out-of-the-box in their search. Michael Yormark is currently president and CEO of ROC Nation Sports, Roc Nation Sports and International, an American entertainment company. Michael has a reputation as a creative an aggressive builder of sports and entertainment empires. He drives massive revenue mechanisms.

That’s a key.

While there are other candidates reportedly under consideration such as Jim Frevola and Jeff Purinton. In any case, it appears Miami is looking for a creative and aggressive leader that has a track record of driving revenue growth. It’s no secret the ACC lags dramatically behind the Big Ten and SEC in revenue sharing.

There’s an old saying… “If you continue to do the same things, you should expect to get the same result.”

Dan Radakovich is a strong and loyal proponent of the ACC. It appears Miami is no longer willing to sit idly as the ACC dies on the vine.

More to come.

GO CANES!
