This series takes a deep dive into what the College Sports Commission needs to make happen in college athletics to remain a viable fabric in our society.
In part three of our series, we presented a mock-up of the new Midwest Conference (20 schools).
Each conference will have two divisions, each school playing a nine-game division schedule. Division champions will play for the conference championship. Conference champions (4) get automatic berths in the CFP. Four At-Large teams, determined by final season rankings, will make up the final four berths in the playoffs.
In part four of our series, we are going to present our “mock” membership of our second new conference, the Coastal Conference.
Let’s get started!

Coastal Conference:
- schools listed alphabetically in each division-
North Division:
Army
Boston College
Connecticut (UConn)
Rutgers
Navy
Maryland
Duke
North Carolina
North Carolina State
Wake Forest
South Division:
Clemson
Kentucky
Georgia Tech
Florida State
Central Florida (UCF)
Miami
South Florida (UCF)
Tulane
Houston
Texas - San Antonio (UTSA)
BOTTOM LINE:
Like the Midwest Conference, the Coastal Conference brings a foundation from the old Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The geography is more spread out but that will be addressed in the division structure. Again, travel is cut, bringing the game closer to the fans.
In part five of “Saving College Athletics”, we will present the membership of the third new conference, the Southern Conference.
GO CANES!
