Miami opened their season with a thrilling upset victory over #6 Notre Dame, 27-24, this past Sunday.
The now #5 Canes will next host Bethune-Cookman at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday night, September 6th. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
Bethune-Cookman opened their season with a 42-9 loss to Florida International. The Wildcats generated 346 total yards of offense in the loss, but their defense gave up 456 yards to FIU. Bethune-Cookman went only 5/15 and 0/3 in 3rd and 4th down situations.
The Wildcats are led by senior quarterback Timmy McClain, who went 18-28 (64.%) for 164 yards (5.9 ypa.). Bethune-Cookman’s rushing attack is led by senior Marqui Johnson. In the BC opener, he rushed for 76 yards on 9 carries (8.4 ypc) and added 2 pass receptions for two yards. The Wildcats receivers were led by sophomore Javon Ross with 6 receptions for 109 yards (18.2 apr).
Miami totaled 332 total yards of offense against Notre Dame, passing for 205 yards and rushing for 127 yards. Senior quarterback Carson Beck completed 20-30 passes (66.0%) and two touchdowns. Miami’s running attack was led junior Mark Fletcher with 66 yards on 15 carries (4.4 apa.) and sophomore Chamar “Charley” Brown with 54 yards on 15 carries (3.3 apr). Miami’s receivers were led by true freshman Malachi Toney with 6 reception for 82 yards (13.2 apc) and one touchdown.
