theSCOUTING Report: Central Michigan

September 25, 2026 - Our #6 Miami Hurricanes (3-0, 2-0 ACC) will host the Central Michigan Chippewas (2-1, 0-0 MAC) on Saturday evening at Hard Rock Stadium .

This report will examine the Chippewas’ strength and weakness after three games.

OVERVIEW:

Central Michigan plays in the MAC conference. After three games, the Chippewas have two wins and one loss.

OFFENSE:

Central Michigan runs a power spread offense, averaging 14.7 points per game (132nd) and 265.3 yards of offense per game, The offense is run-heavy, led by quarterback Angel Flores with rushing 312 yards (5.2 ypc). Vaughn Blue and Jayden Clerveaux have also contributed to the running attack. Flores has attempted only 26 passes in three games for 103 yards (53.8%) o TDS and2 interceptions.

DEFENSE:

On defense, CMU runs a 3-4 base defense that gives up 19.3 points per game (tied 55th). The Chippewas are led by linebackers Xavier White (30 tackles), Mayson Hitchens (21 tackles) and Brett McCalla (19 tackles). The secondary is led by Darrell Bryant (18 tackles, 1 Int), Justin Taylor (16 tackles, 1 Int.) and Jason Jackson (11 tackles , .5 sacks). The Chippewas have 4 interceptions and 3 sacks on the season, to date.

BOTTOM LINE:

Miami should easily handle Central Michigan but will probably used many players in the game. The Canes are banged up and need to get healthy. This game should provide valuable snaps for developing players.
