theSCOUTING Report: Pitt

October 24, 2026 - #1 Miami (6-0, 4-0 ACC) hosts Pittsburgh (5-2, 2-2 ACC) on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium.
The purpose of this report is to breakdown Pitt’s strengths and weaknesses on both side of the ball.
OFFENSE:
Pitt lost their excellent young quarterback, Mason Heintschel, to injury for the season. Since the, the Panthers have leaned on their solid running attack to generate offense. It’s made them a one-dimensional offense, struggling to take up the slack.
DEFENSE:
Pitt has an excellent front seven on defense, the #1 unit in the nation. However, the secondary has been inconsistent in stopping opponents’ passing attacks.
BOTTOM LINE:
Pitt is a solid team when at full strength. They are wounded badly without Heintschel. Miami should handle business on Saturday.
GO CANES!
