Miami basketball had one of the greatest turn around season in history the past season.
That was no small feat for first-year head coach Jai Lucas and his staff. They had to build the roster from the ground up with thirteen new players. The result…a 26-9 record and a return to the NCAA Tournament.
Coach Lucas didn’t have much time to celebrate though. He and the staff had to do it again. With only three players returning and a late start with recruiting, Lucas and his staff had to build a practically new roster. Over the past six weeks, Miami has added eight new recruits, one from the high school ranks and the rest through the portal. The Canes currently have eleven players enrolled, signed or committed for next season.
Is Miami finished with talent acquisition this cycle? Perhaps not.
Miami will return Shelton Henderson at small forward. However, the Canes are somewhat thin at this position and may elect to stack another available talented prospect.
Here is one remaining high blue chip prospect to know.

SF Alex Constanza (2026 uncommitted)
Hometown: Geneva, OH
School: SPIRE Academy
HT: 6'-8" | WT: 205 | Offers: 15 | Rating: 98 | Pos. Rank: 20 | Overall Rank: 51
Status: UNCOMMITTED | Top Tier: Syracuse, Illinois, Georgetown, Kansas, NC State
OV: UOV:
Summary: Former Georgetown commit | Holds previous Miami offer | "Constanza is a major mismatch problem on the perimeter because of his combination of size, length (7-foot-1 wingspan), strength, playmaking ability, and shooting touch. He has extremely soft hands and natural touch that allow for tough catches, quick finishes, good dexterity around the rim, and an effortless shooting stroke out to the arc.” - 247Sports
BOTTOM LINE:
Going into the 2026-27 season, Miami must improve its depth at small forward while also preparing for the future. Alex Constanza would bring a young talent to Coral Gables.
GO CANES!
