Oct. 6, 2026 - Led by first year head coach Jai Lucas, the Miami Hurricanes turned in an amazing record-setting turnaround in 2025-26. The Canes finished the season with a 26-9 record (14-5 in ACC) and a first round victory over Missouri in the NCAA Tournament.

Fast forward to 2026. Miami had only four players returning for the 2026-27. Coach Lucas and his staff did a masterful job in the transfer portal with rebuilding the team. Now with a full squad, the Canes are considered a contender in the ACC this season.

Fast forward to next season. Hopefully, Miami can retain the majority of this year’s team. The staff is already on the recruiting trail for blue chip talent in the 2027 recruiting class.

Who are the Canes pursuing?

As of the writing, the Canes appear to be focused on these ten high school prospects.

POINT GUARD:

Cayden Daughtry

Hometown: Chandler, AZ School: Compass Prep

HT: 6'-0" | WT: 165 | Offers: 33 | Rating: 99 | Pos. Rank: 2 | Overall Rank: 4

Status:0 UNCOMMITTED | Top Tier: Iowa, FSU, Miami, Michigan

OV: 10/16/26 UOV: TBD

Evaluation: 247Sports - 7/19/26 - Adam Finkelstein

"Daughtry is the most skilled player in high school basketball. He has an incredible mastery of the ball at such a young age...Beyond just his prowess with the ball, he also has terrific natural instincts and feel for the game...The concerns are almost solely physical. He’s undersized with a naturally slighter frame and not atypical length...The bottom line is that Daughtry was the best grassroots player in the country this year and will very likely be one of college basketball’s very best freshmen a year from now.”

Summary: Elite national prospect. Recently at Peach Jam, Cayden averaged 32.3 points on 58.6 percent shooting. It will be a national battle to land Cayden.

Beckham Black

Hometown: Orlando, FL School: Southeastern Prep

HT: 6'-3" | WT: 190 | Offers: 25 | Rating: 99 | Pos. Rank: 1 | Overall Rank: 1

Status: UNCOMMITTED | Top Tier: UNC, Texas, Arkansas, Duke

OV: --- UOV: ---

Evaluation: 247Sports - Adam Finkelstein - 7/19/26

"Black is one the highest floor point guard prospects we’ve seen in several years. He has a uniquely wide overlap of assets with positional size, innate competitiveness, poise, confidence, consistently developing skill, and an instinctive feel for the game. He can not only blend scoring and passing, but tailor them to his environment. In the EYBL, he operated as an offensive alpha and posted 22 points, 5+ assists, and 4 rebounds per game on 48/35/82 shooting. Conversely, he ran the show as a pure point guard for USA Basketball at the FIBA U17 World Cup, averaging 12 points and 8 assists, against just 1 turnover... Defensively, his competitiveness, strong base, balance, quick hands, and instincts are all assets. He has quick hands, reads passing lanes well, and good positional length with a nearly 6-foot-6 wingspan.Put it all together and the bottom line is that Black has arguably the most reliable and well-rounded game in high school basketball."

Summary: Elite in-state prospect. The top floor general in the 2027 class. Another major national battle.

COMBO/SHOOTING GUARD:

Justin Wise*

Hometown: Bogart, GA School: North Oconee

HT: 6'-4" | WT: 175 | Offers: 16 | Rating: 98 | Pos. Rank: 2 | Overall Rank: 49

Status: COMMITTED | Top Tier: Georgia commit

OV: 8/29/26 UOV: ---

Evaluation:

"Wise is a skilled and heady guard who bases his game mostly around his jumper. Nearly two-thirds of his total shots came from behind the arc in the recent EYBL season, connecting on 36% of nearly 7 attempts per game. He’s capable of making tough threes, including in transition and off the dribble, has a complimenting mid-range pull-up game, and is a good cutter off the ball..."

Summary: An elite long-distance jump shooter, Justin is a Georgia commit from the Peach State, thus he will be tough pull.

POWER FORWARD:

CJ Rosser

Hometown: Orlando, FL School: Southeastern Prep

HT: 6'-10" | WT: 200 | Offers: 26 | Rating: 99 | Pos. Rank : 1 | Overall Rank: 2

Status: UNCOMMITTED | Top Tier: Kentucky, North Carolina, Miami

OV: --- UOV: ---

Evaluation: 247Sports - Adam Finkelstein - 8/17/26

“Rosser has glaringly versatile tools with positional size at 6-foot-10, a long 7-foot-3 wingspan, mobility, athleticism, inside-out scoring potential, and even defensive upside. Nevertheless, he's far from a finished product and too often inconsistent and/or inefficient.”

Summary: Elite 2027 prospect - #2 recruit in the nation. Miami is in the race, but North Carolina and Kentucky are the leaders at this point.

Jeremy Jenkins

Hometown: Miami, FL School: Riviera Preparatory

HT: 6'-8" | WT: 245 | Offers: 24 | Rating: 97 | Pos. Rank: 8 | Overall Rank: 59

Status: UNCOMMITTED | Top Tier: Georgia Tech, Houston

OV: --- UOV: ---

Evaluation: 247Sports - Adam Finkelstein - 7/18/26

“Jenkins is big and strong with some developing inside-out skill. He has a college ready frame with broad shoulders and a very powerful upper body.”

Summary: A local South Florida blue-chip talent with considerable upside, but still needs development. Would Lucas take a chance? Intriguing prospect.

Ahmed Nur

Hometown: Scottsdale, AZ School: Bella Vista Prep

HT: 6’-9" | WT: 190 | Offers: 31 | Rating: 98 | Pos. Rank: 7 | Overall Rank: 32

Status: UNCOMMITTED | Top Tier: Ole Miss, Purdue, Syracuse, FSU

OV: --- UOV: ---

Evaluation: Adam Finkelstein, 247S Director of Scouting

“Nur’s combination of size, fluidity, and skill gives him glaring upside, but he’s still in the early stages of turning that potential into consistent production…Standing at 6-foot-9 with a 7-foot-1 wingspan, he has good positional size and length, but a still lean build with somewhat higher hips and a lack of strength that prevents him from being able to play through contact… His tools though are glaring, and so he has a high long-term ceiling, but a wider range of potential outcomes.

Summary: With intriguing upside, Nur is a developmental prospect. Where is he on Miami’s board?

SMALL FORWARD:

AJ Williams

Hometown: McDonough, GA School: Eagle's Landing Christian Academy

HT: 6'-7" | WT: 220 | Offers: 29 | Rating: 99 | Pos. Rank: 2 | Overall Rank: 5

Status: UNCOMMITTED | Top Tier: Duke, Auburn, Miss State, BYU, UGA, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kentucky, UNC

OV: --- UOV: ---

Evaluation: 247Sports - David Risk - 8/4/26

“Williams is a high level shooter from inside and outside the arc, but his mid-range game is elite. When he gets to the 15-foot range it is as good as a layup. He also has a uncanny gift of drawing fouls on his shot. Williams will make as many hard, contested jump shots as anybody in the high school game. He also checks all of the boxes including passing, handling, rebounding, and defending multiple positions. He also has the physical tools and positional size."

Summary: Reclassified to the 2027 | He is a potential one-and-done prospect. At the Peach Jam, Williams averaged 23.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks. a long shot for the Canes.

———————————————————————————————

Malachi Jordan

Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, FL School: Prolific Prep

HT: 6'-7" | WT: 225 | Offers: 21 | Rating: 99 | Pos. Rank: 6 | Overall Rank: 19

Status: UNCOMMITTED | Top Tier: USC, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri

OV: --- UOV: ---

Evaluation: Adam Finkelstein, 247S Director of Scouting

“Jordan is one of the most physically gifted prospects in the class. He has good positional size, a powerful frame, long arms (6-foot-11-plus wingspan), and explosive vertical athleticism… His physical gifts are undeniable, he has the potential to play multiple positions and be a two-way contributor, but gets inefficient when he starts worrying about the wrong things or trying to prove something.

Summary: Jordan is a blue-chip local talent. Is his potential attractive enough for Miami? The Canes also have ground to make up on the trail.

CENTER:

Lewis Uvwo

Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, FL School: Prolific Prep

HT: 6'-11" | WT: 225 | Offers: 31 | Rating: 99 | Pos. Rank: 1 | Overall Rank: 7

Status: UNCOMMITTED | Top Tier: Baylor, Cal, Kentucky, Providence

OV: --- UOV: ---

Evaluation: Adam Finkelstein, 247S Director of Scouting

“Uvwo is a truly elite defensive prospect. It starts with his physical tools. Standing at 6-foot-10 with a nearly 7-foot-6 wingspan, he has massive length. More than that though, he’s also a tremendous athlete. He runs, jumps, and changes direction with ease and fluidity. His reactions are incredibly quick for a player with his dimensions, allowing him to flip his hips or bounce back up for secondary jumps… Uvwo’s ability to block shots is virtually unmatched in high school basketball… He plays with a passion and intensity

Summary: Elite local and national prospect. A prolific top shot-blocker whether on one-on-one situations, in transition or coming from the weak side. He is a perfect fit for Lucas’ system.

Tyran Frazier

Hometown: St. Louis, MO School: The Principia School

HT: 6'-9" | WT: 205 | Offers: 13 | Rating: 98 | Pos. Rank: 7 | Overall Rank: 51
