Mario Cristobal and his defensive staff welcomed not one but two verbal commitments on Sunday.

The day started when Miami cornerback Terry Jefferson welcomed the flip of four-star cornerback Ai'King Hall (Dothan AL - Dothan) from Oregon. He was the 12th verbal commitment to Miami’s 2017 class.

At 5’-11”/190, Ai’King is rated 96, ranked the #9 CB and the #73 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class according to the 247Sports Composite.

In May, 247Sports director Andrew Ivins posted the following evaluation of Hall.

“Quick cover man with a wide build that can play man or zone. Believed to be hovering somewhere around 5-foot-11, 190 pounds with near 32-inch arms. Maintains phase with a smooth pedal and slick transitions. Makes well-timed breaks on the football and has had success in the trail technique. Can race down the sidelines and into the deeper parts of the field like few others with his acceleration. Gives effort in pursuit, but could find more aggression as an open-field tackler, especially if he’s going to handle boundary responsibilities. Combination of length, twitch and track speed gives him a higher ceiling at a demanding position. Projects as a potential multi-year starter at the Power Four level that should add plenty of special teams value.”

On Sunday evening, Miami defensive line coach Aaron Taylor welcomed EDGE Jayvon Dawson (Lake Worth, FL - Santaluces). He is the 13th verbal commitment to Miami’s 2017 recruiting class. Jayvon chose Miami over such schools as North Carolina, Georgia, and Kentucky.

At 6’-3”/215, Jayvon is rated 88, ranked the #43 edge and the #505 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class according to the 247Sports Composite.

In 2025, Jayvon totaled totaling 68 tackles, 22 for a loss, with eight sacks, and a forced fumble.

In January, 247Sports director Andrew Ivins posted the following evaluation of Dawson.

“Young and explosive defender that could be positioned both on and off the ball. Spent much of junior year attacking forward, but impressed in coverage at The Opening Miami regional in advance of senior year and tested in the upper percentile (4.53 short shuttle, 35.3 vertical jump). Builds momentum with a quick trigger and a longer stride. Strikes when he earns the opportunity, firing through the hips. Makes effort-based stops in pursuit with his lateral agility. Shows good get-off and bend when working the corner, but needs to improve overall pass-rush package if he’s going to be a full-time edge player on Saturdays. Should be viewed as a potential impact player somewhere in the front seven for a Power Four program.”

As a result of this double haul, Miami’s 2027 recruiting class is now ranked #8 in the nation and #1 in the ACC.
