Miami currently has nine verbal commitments to the 2027 recruiting class, now ranked #6 in the nation.


Miami is also heavily involved with dozens of elite and blue chip prospects. Miami has incredible momentum on the recruiting trail.


Who will be the next 2027 recruiting prospect to commit to the University of Miami?


CaneReports used the following methodology to identify potential commitments.


  • A prospect must have an offer from Miami.


  • A prospect must have indicated publicly a high interest in Miami.


  • A prospect must have visited Miami (game or campus visit) within the last year.


  • A prospect must have an official visit scheduled with Miami in the next 45 days.


Given the above parameters, here are twelve targeted prospects we feel may commit to Miami next. All the targets below satisfy our parameters.


WR Jaden Upshaw

He will be the first scheduled announcement on April 15.


OT Mark Matthews

He has indicated he will take four spring visits, including Miami, with a possible decision following shortly after. The relationship with the Miami staff is long and intense.


LB Kaden Henderson

The #1 linebacker in the nation has a long relationship with the program. He could pop any day.


RB Myson Johnson-Cook

Miami wants two running backs this cycle. The top target is Myson Johnson-Cook. Experts have begun projecting him to Coral Gables. He is scheduled to announce on May 29.


RBs Ty Keys or Elijah Kimble

If MJC commits, it could be a race to the finish line for the last spot in the running back room. If MJC goes elsewhere, Keys and Kimble may be the final combination.


IOL Jatori Williams or IOL Reis Russell

Miami has been stacking massive offensive linemen. Like running back, this may become a “list man standing” situation.


S Zayden Gamble

Miami has a need at safety and has been recruiting Gamble for a long time. The local star needs to make a decision soon before Miami moves on.


LB Jalaythan Mayfield

A fast-rising linebacker, Mayfield could commit on Jul. 17.


BOTTOM LINE:

Miami would like to sign all of these young men and stand a good chance with all. But who gets to the finish line first?
