Time to Pivot…
This week was not a good week for Miami recruiting. The Canes lost major recruiting battles in the trenches on both sides of the line of scrimmage. There’s no way to sugar coat it. The loss of OT Mark Matthews, DT David Folorunsho and DL Xavier Muhammad really hurt. Perhaps Mario Cristobal and his staff can shift to a long game strategy for the blue chip prospects but it will be a steep uphill climb. Can Miami pivot to other options? Miami landed four-star 202s7 running back Ty Keys (Poplarville, MS - Poplarville) on Friday Ty is Miami’s ninth verbal commitment to the 2027 recruiting class. Among his 29 scholarships, Ty chose the Canes over Florida State and Ole Miss. After a negotiated settlement with Duke University, former Blue Devil quarterback Darian Mensah , on Tuesday, announced he is transferring to Miami. At 6’-3”/205, Darian will be Miami’s 11th incoming transfer in this cycle. He has two years of eligibility remaining after one year at Duke and two years at Tulane (one as a redshirt freshman).
