The No.10 Florida Gators defeated the Miami Hurricanes, 82-68, in Jacksonville on Sunday night.

The Canes started quickly with Tru Washington steal and layup, but the Gators responded with a 9-0 run. Miami rallied and took back the lead at 13-12 on a 3-pointer by Tre Donaldson and extended their lead to 18-12 on a Malik Reneau basket.

From that point on, Florida took the lead on two 3-pointers by Alex Condon and Thomas Hough and never looked back. The Gators took a 36-25 lead to halftime.

Miami cut the lead to 44-42 in the second half but that Canes’ shooting went cold. Florida extended their lead to 59-47 on a Urban Clavier 3-pointer. Miami couldn’t respond as the Gators lead grew to 18 points late in the game.

Malik Reneau scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Miami. It was Reneau’s fourth straight 20-point game for the Canes. Tru Washington contributed 16 points and Tre Donaldson added 11 points for Miami.

Miami (3-1) shot 33.8-percent (24 of 71) from the floor, 27.8 percent (5 for 18) from 3-point range and made 55.6 percent (15 of 27) of the foul line.

The Canes return home on Thursday to host Elon. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. ET, with coverage on ACCNX.

GO CANES!
