On Tuesday, Miami flipped TE Gavin Mueller (Wheaton, IL) from Colorado. Miami’s 2026 recruiting class now stands at 30 verbal commitments. And the Canes may not be finished.

Who are some realistic targets still on the board for Miami? And where does Miami with them?

RB Amari Latimer*

Hometown:  Tyrone, GA              School:  Sandy Creek

HT: 5'-11" | WT:  230 |  Offers: 47 |  Rating: 91 |  Pos. Rank: 17 ATH |  Overall Rank: 266

Status:  COMMITTED   |  Top Tier:  Wisconsin commit

OV:  ---         UOV:  ---

A 4-star power back who has started since his freshman year. Going into 2025, has rushed for 2,161 yds.  (5.9 YPC), 39 TDs, 64 passes for 668 YDs and 7 TD. In 2025, add 1,312 rushing yds (10.3 YPC in 8 games) and 26 TDs. For HS career, has caught 59 passes for 712 yards and seven TDs. In recent weeks, Amari has re-emerged up Miami’s board. Based on all reports, Miami is pushing hard for his signature. We feel the Canes have a good chance to flip him.

EDGE Anthony "Tank" Jones*

Hometown:  Mobile, AL     School: St. Paul's Episcopal

HT: 6'-3.5" | WT: 240  |  Offers: 37 |  Rating: 98 |  Pos. Rank: 6 |  Overall Rank: 34
Status:  COMMITTED   |  Top Tier:  Oregon commit
OV:  5/30/25         UOV: ---

2024: 84 tackles, 18 TFL, and 16 sacks | 247Sports - "...elite get-off, can dip and bend and has great closing speed. Has the athleticism to chase down plays from behind and shows a crazy motor. Natural pass rusher at an early age and knows how to use his hands and can win with multiple counters... ceiling is extremely high and if he stays healthy and continues to develop at his current rate, there’s no reason why he won’t be playing on Sunday. Oregon is have an outstanding year on the field. Dan Planning is a superb recruiter. Still, Mario is relentless on the trail. We feel the Canes have a fair chance to flip him.

DL Bryce Perry-Wright*

Hometown:  Buford, GA             School:  Buford

HT: 6'-2" | WT: 250  |  Offers: 42 |  Rating: 97 |  Pos. Rank: 3 |  Overall Rank: 47
Status: COMMITTED   |  Top Tier:  Texas A&M commit
OV:  6/6/25         UOV: 4/5/25

Project at DT at next level |  Will need to put on mass to be ready for college level. |  In 2023, registered 51 tackles (9 TFL), 13 QBH and 7.5 sacks. The Aggies are having a top ten season on the field. However, never count Mario out. Still, we feel the Canes have a slim chance to flip him.

DL Nolan Wilson*

Hometown: Picayune, MS      School:  Picayune Memorial

HT: 6'-4" | WT: 240  |  Offers: 25 |  Rating: 97 |  Pos. Rank: 6 |  Overall Rank: 57

Status:  COMMITTED   |  Top Tier:  Alabama commit

OV:  6/20/25         UOV:  4/3/25

"Long and nimble defensive end that flashes a high level of untapped athleticism off the edge as a pass rusher...Projects as an above average to good starter at the Power Four level that will more than likely need one to two years to develop both from a physical and technical standpoint before making a significant impact on Saturdays." - (247Sports). While Bama has struggled on the field this season, there is no sign Nolan is wavering on his commitment. We feel the Canes have a poor chance to flip him.

WR Calvin Russell*

Hometown:  Miami, FL                      School:  Northwestern

HT: 6'-5"    |   WT:  190     |   Offers:  52   |  Rating:  96   |   Pos. Rank:  6  |   Overall Rank:  62

Status: COMMITTED   |  Top Tier:  Syracuse commit

Multi-sport athlete (basketball and track & field). "Gifted athlete with chance to be special on Saturdays and potentially even Sundays with his tools. Viewed as one of the top overall offensive talents.” Calvin appears strong in his commitment to Fran Brown, but Mario will continue to battle until pen meets paper. We feel the Canes have a slim chance to flip him.

RB Derrek Cooper*

Hometown:  Hollywood, FL          School:  Chaminade-Madonna

HT: 6'-1"    |   WT:  205     |   Offers:  32  |  Rating:  96   |   Pos. Rank:  5 ATH  |  Overall Rank:  64

Status: COMMITTED.   |  Top Tier: Texas commit

OV:  5/30-6/1/25        UOV: 8/31/25, 11/8/25

Attended ND-Miami game | commitment on July 20th  |  OV - May 30-June 1  Multiple UOV to Miami  | Elite two-way player  | In 2024, 905 yards (9.3 YPC), 13 TDs, 9 pass recep for 156 yards and a TD. There is no sign Derrek is waving from his pledge to the Horns. Again, Mario will not give up trying to keep this talented back home. We feel the Canes have a slim chance to flip him.

DB Justice Fitzpatrick*

Hometown:  Fort Lauderdale, FL     School: St. Thomas Aquinas

HT: 6'-0.5"    |   WT:  185     |   Offers: 43   |   Rating:  98   |   Pos. Rank:  4  ATH  |  Overall Rank:  43

Status: COMMITTED |  Top Tier:  UGA commit

OV: 6/6/25  | UOV: 9/9/23

Versatile, can play safety or corner | Multi-sport athlete (track); 11.00 (2.6) in the 100, 22.06 (1.2) in the 200 and 53.63 in the 400. |  2023: 13 tackles, 2 INT and 2 PBU . The Dawgs and Kirby Smart will be a hard pull, but Mario has a longstanding relationship with Justice and the family. We feel the Canes have a fair chance to flip him.

S Blake Stewart

Hometown:   Atlanta, GA           School: Woodward Academy

HT: 6'-0"    |   WT:  175     |   Offers:  44   |   Rating:  89  |   Position Rank:  35  |  Overall Rank:  436

Status: UNCOMMITTED  |   Top Tier: Miami, Georgia

OV  6/13/25  | UOV 3/3/25, 4/10 /25

True multi-sport athlete (baseball, basketball and lacrosse while running track.) | 2024 - 80 tackles (4 TFL), 8 PBU and 2 INT on defense while catching 38 passes for 467 yards (12.3 YPC) and 3 TD on offense. Also had 1 KORTD and 1 PRTD on special teams. Miami has been recruiting Blake for a long time and looked like the leader until Georgia got involved lately. It appears Blake is trending away from Miami at this point. We feel the Canes have a slim chance to flip him.

————————————————————————————

BOTTOM LINE:

Miami may pick up one or two additional commitments but it appears the 2026 recruiting is winding down. The Canes will sign another strong class, but it will take a surprise flip to get them into a top ten class.

GO CANES!
