Miami head coach Jai Lucas and staff lost another two players to the transfer portal on Saturday. Miami forward Salih Altuntas and wing Timotej Malovec have entered the transfer portal.
With their departures, the Canes have only three players remaining on the roster with one incoming freshman (Caleb Gaskins) joining the squad this coming season. Miami’s coach staff is again tasked with a major rebuild of the team.
Miami’s staff will have returning small forward Shelton Henderson, guards Dante Allen and Marcus Allen. True freshman power forward Caleb Gaskins will be joining the team. These players will be the foundation to build the 2026-27 roster around.
The staff has already been busy on the portal recruiting trail. Reports have indicated the Canes are interested in more than a dozen portal candidates including PG Acaden Lewis (Villanova), C Somto Cyril (Georgia), CG Juke Harris (Wake Forest), SG Matt Able (NC State), SG Jalil Bethea (Alabama), SF Kevin Thomas (NC State), C Eric Dibami (FIU), SG Quincy Wadley (2026 uncommitted), PG Alex Wilkens (Furman), PG Markus Burton (Notre Dame transfer), C Paulius Murauskas (Saint Mary’s), PF/C BrysonTiller (Kansas), PF/C Bangot Dak (Colorado), guard Koree Cotton (UTRGV) and guard Jamier Jones (Providence).
As other targets surface, CaneReports will report accordingly. Coach Lucas and his staff must find nine new Canes in the next month. Tall task but one he has made successfully before.
GO CANES!
