The 2026 recruiting cycle has entered its last phase, the Flip Season.
Schools have what they hope is their recruiting class for 2026. Now they must fill their remaining needs and hold onto their pledges.
Flip season is where the recruiting battles get fierce and sometimes nasty. Schools try to convince prospects o change their verbal commitments before the official signing period in December.
Miami is no exception.
The Canes still have roster needs at safety, wide receiver, and defensive line. Here are latest eight committed prospects Miami hopes to “flip” their commitments before pen meets paper.
WR Tristen Keys
Tristen is verbally committed to LSU but continues to talk to Miami. He’s the #1 receiver in the country with many schools desiring his signature.
Miami’s chances to sway him are about 35%
DT Alister Vallejo
Alister is verbally committed to Michigan. Miami still needs to bolster their defensive intertior and Alister is listening.
Miami’s chances to land him are about 25%
S Jowell Combay
Jowell is verbally committed to Tennessee. Miami is looking for a quality safety to pair with Cortez Redding.
Miami’s chances to land him are about 30%
S Markell Taylor
Markell is verbally committed to Cincinnati. Can the Canes convince the Georgia native to switch to Coral Gables?
Miami’s chances are about 30%
DT Nemyah Telona
Nemyah is verbally committed to Cal. It’s a long way to Greentree.
Miami’s chances to sway him are about 20%
S Tony Forney
Tony is verbally committed to Missouri. Can the Canes convince him to stay closer to home?
Miami’s chances to sway him are about 25%.
S Jamar Owens
Jamar is verbally committed to Indiana. Can Miami sway him to stay down south?
Miami’s chances to sway him are about 15%
DL Kaleb Morris
Kaleb is verbally committed to Mississippi State. Can Mario work his magic?
Miami’s chances are about 10%.
NOTE: Miami is still looking for the middle linebacker of the future. While not a flip candidate, Duyon Forkpa Jr. is still a major target for the staff.
BOTTOM LINE:
Pulling off a “flip” is very hard. While it may not look promising, that’s Mario’s specialty.
GO CANES!
