As Miami opened fall camp this week, the media accolades continued to roll in.

ACC Media projects Miami to finished second in the ACC. The Canes received seven votes to win the conference, behind Clemson who garnered 167 votes.

ACC media also named two Canes to the preseason All-ACC team, right tackle Francis Mauigoa and defensive end Rueben Bain Jr.. Miami is one of seven teams in the ACC to have multiple players selected to the preseason team.

Columnist Brad Powers is projecting Miami to be favored in 11 of 12 regular season games in 2025. The Canes are one of 13 teams projected to win at least eleven games this season. In addition to Miami, other teams projected to be favored in 11 of 12 games include Alabama, Boise State, James Madison, Liberty, Oregon, Penn State, and Toledo. Powers is projecting five teams to be favored in all 12 games, including Notre Dame, Arizona State, Clemson, Georgia, and Ohio State.

Miami offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa has been named to the 2025 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, an award that honors community service, character, and impact. Named in honor of 1996 Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel, the award celebrates student‑athletes who use their platform to serve others and drive positive change. The winner will be selected by a national committee and fan vote, announced live on the Home Depot College Football Awards show on Dec. 12, 2025.

Miami senior linebacker Wesley Bissainthe was named to the Butkus Award Preseason Watch List, awarded annually to the nation’s best college linebacker. Bissainthe becomes the fifth Hurricane named to a national preseason watch list, joining Rueben Bain (Bronko Nagurski Trophy), Anez Cooper and Francis Mauigoa (Outland Trophy), and Carson Beck (Maxwell Award).

BOTTOM LINE:

While Miami is being looked upon as one of the best teams in the country, the Canes are not quite at the top of college football. And there’s only one way to change that,

GO CANES!
