Miami held on to beat cross-town foe lord International, 9-7, on Tuesday evening.
The Canes were led on mound by TJ Coats (5-1). He turned in a very strong performance, going six innings, allowing two (one earned), on three hits while walking one and striking out a career-high seven batters.
At the plate, Miami (25-8, 6-6 ACC) rolled out the lumber with three two-run home runs by Derek Williams, Jake Ogden and Brylan West.
Miami jumped on FIU in the fourth inning with a five-run outburst, sparked by reigning ACC Player of the Week Jake Ogden's two-run homer (#5). Ogden is hitting .486 (18 for 37) over seven-game span.

The Canes had to hold on for the win after a Panther rally narrowed Miami’s lead to 9-7 in the ninth inning.
Miami will next host Wake Forest for a three-game series beginning Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET at Mark Light Field. The game will air on ACCNX, with radio on WVUM 90.5 FM.
