Miami shuts out Wake, wins series

Miami shut out Wake Forest, 8-0, on Sunday at Mark Light Field. With the win, the Canes also won the weekend series.
Miami (27-9, 8-7 ACC) used superior pitching behind stater AJ Ciscar and reliever Lyndon Glidewell. Ciscar went seven innings gave up no runs, four hits and one walk. He struck out five. Glidewell came on in the eight inning and finished out the last two innings, striking out three. Miami pitching limited Wake Forest to four runs in the three-game series.
At the plate, Miami was led by Alex Sosa and Derek Williams, each homering. Sosa also had a busted a triple and drove in three runs. Williams had three hits and drove in two runs. Alonzo Alvarez doubled i the fourth to drive in a run and extend Miami’s lead to 3-0.
Miami will next host USF on Wednesday night. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. ET with coverage on ACCNX and WVUM.
