With the 2025 recruiting cycle in the books, Miami’s staff is already lining up 2026 official visits (OVs) in late spring.

In 2024, the Canes hosted 46 official visits in late May and June. Eighteen (18) eventually signed with Miami. So these upcoming official visits are very important.

As OVs are scheduled, CaneReports will feature a prospective prospect and what he could bring to Coral Gables.

Our next featured visitor is IOL Lamar Brown.

At 6’-4”/275, Lamar is rated 99, ranked the #1interior offensive lineman in the nation and the8 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is an elite 5-star lineman from Baton Rouge, LA (Univ. Lab) with 27 scholarship offers to date.

Here’s 247Sports Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks' scouting report on Lamar.

Bona fide two-way line-of-scrimmage prospect who could provide immense long-term potential from the interior of the offensive or defensive front. Projected to IOL as a physical, athletic difference maker who could potentially fit as an exceptional center prospect. Two-time MaxPreps All-America selection entering junior campaign. Conflicting length data but owns a stout, dense build that fosters sudden athleticism and explosive movements. Plays with fury. Flashes close-quarters power and impressive short-area agility. Hunts targets at the second level. Shows a sense or urgency and searches for extra work. Turbo-charged as a puller and climber. Sinks his hips and complements punch power with significant lower-half juice. Some quite encouraging pass-pro reps at right tackle on an island. Gets a bit upright but is a natural bender with advanced foot quickness and functional athleticism relative to size. Has some enforcer to him on tape. Possesses excellent multi-sport context as the Louisiana 3A shot put champion (53-1) and fourth-place regional discus competitor (132-3) as a sophomore. Initial suddenness and heavy-handedness translate to defense as well. Pocket-collapsing bull rusher. Experienced inside and on the edge on defense, where he shows surprising pursuit range thanks to excellent functional athleticism. Projects as a high-major impact player who owns traits that suggest simultaneously high-floor competency and high-ceiling developmental potential.

Lamar will officially visit Miami on the weekend of May 30-June 1.

BOTTOM LINE:

At this time, Lamar is being pursued hard by LSU, Texas A&M, Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, UCF and Miami. This means it will be a tough recruiting battle.

GO CANES!
